Valley Transit has established its new Public Transit Advisory Group (P‑TAG), a volunteer advisory body that provides input to the Valley Transit Board of Directors on policies, service delivery, and universal mobility within the service area. While the initial membership has been appointed, the group may include up to ten members. Community members interested in serving—especially in rider or community categories not yet represented—are encouraged to apply for consideration.

P‑TAG members bring diverse perspectives that strengthen transparency, public trust, and equitable, accessible transit for everyone. Members serve in a non‑binding advisory role and may receive reimbursement for authorized travel in accordance with Valley Transit policies.

P‑TAG membership is open to people who live or work within the Valley Transit Public Transportation Benefit Area or who regularly use Valley Transit services, with an emphasis on diverse backgrounds and experiences; see the Bylaws below for example membership categories. Members are expected to attend scheduled meetings, review materials in advance, engage in respectful, consensus‑oriented discussions, and serve as liaisons by sharing Valley Transit information within their networks. Appointments are made by the Valley Transit Board of Directors through an open application process, with members generally serving two‑year terms and all nominees completing a background check and confirming they have no actual or perceived conflicts of interest related to Valley Transit decisions.

The application period to establish the founding membership of the P-TAG closed on March 9th. Valley Transit appreciates the community’s strong interest and participation in forming this new advisory body. Although the first group of nominees has already been recommended to the Board of Directors, additional openings may become available as membership expands or vacancies occur.
